Signature Supplements™
Intelligent Nutrition Program
Individual Health Solutions, llc
CONFIDENTIAL
The
Signature
Supplement™
Intelligent Nutrition Assessment is an efficient consolidation of
major biochemical based functionality assessments. Each test
measures an important fundamental biochemical function that is
associated with impairment in mental, emotional, energetic and
physical expression. The five tests measure imbalances in the
glucose control system, absorption of nutrients, metal metabolism,
neurotransmitter development, histamine and methylation and soon
kryptopyrrole production.
Test results for your clients will be carefully studied and
compared to tens of thousands of clients who have taken the same
written test as well as undergone a complete blood, tissue and
urine analysis. (consisting of over 100 tests) Your client’s
answers define a cluster of traits that can signify an imbalance
in one of our biochemical metabolic tests. By matching your
client’s cluster of traits, with a pre-tested subgroup with
similar identified symptoms, we are able to determine the
underlying biochemical tendencies of your client. From this
identification we can create an individualized nutritional
supplement solution to re-balance the identified systems.
The
Signature
Supplement™
program developed from the work of Dr Carl Pfeiffer and followed
up by Dr William Walsh of the Pfeiffer
Treatment Center. After studying
over 20,000 patients Dr Walsh commented “ Overloading nutritional
supplements can be harmful. I’ve learned that the greatest
mischief is usually caused by nutrients stored in excessive
amounts rather then at depleted levels. The most common
nutrients overloaded in individuals are copper, iron, folic acid,
calcium, methionine, manganese, choline, and omega -6 fatty acids.
Of course, these same nutrients may be deficient in others. That’s
why multiple vitamins and mineral supplements are usually limited
in benefits, and may do more harm than good. For example giving
supplements of copper to hyperactive kids would probably make them
worse. Giving folic acid to an under-methylated person with
seasonal depression would likely worsen their systems.” Likewise
the green vegetables that provide us with folic acid need to be
avoided by some subgroups of individuals just as high copper
shellfish, high calcium dairy or fortified calcium beverages need
to be avoided by others.
Dr Pfeiffer and Dr Walsh worked primarily with mental and
behavioral illness. This system has a direct application to those
with mild expression of these illnesses and well as with those
showing no symptoms of these illnesses. Studying a “healthy”
population Dr Walsh observed the same biochemical imbalances
exhibiting limited to mild expressions of emotional, mental and
behavioral issues. Using this work as a starting point,
Signature
Supplement™
developed this program for the general public to determine their
unique baseline of nutritional needs. The formula created from
this process is your client’s individualized nutritional
foundation of multi vitamins, minerals, and amino acids and their
individualized lifestyle program.
The six metabolic functions that we test have the greatest effect
on an individual’s day-to-day experiences. When these biochemical
systems are out of order they can affect the mental, emotional,
energetic and physical body. When they are balanced we feel good.
The full
Signature
Supplement™
program is an integrative program that includes an integrated
holistic approach to inherent biochemical imbalances. It is a
complete system approach using individualized nutritional
supplements, bio-chemically matched foods, lifestyle modifications
and appropriate exercise recommendations. The uniqueness of
this integrated system is the success factors built into the
program. The client is directed through a step-by-step program
which provides supplemental wins along each step so that the
client is self motivated to continue to integrate more
personalized aspects of the program into their lifestyle. It all
begins with the targeted supplements. Biochemistry being stronger
than will power – the supplement allows for an easy acceptance of
lifestyle modifications as positive changes begin to occur during
compliance of using the supplement. Follow up calls and retesting
maintain the clients focus on their progress insuring ongoing
compliance with the program. The program includes:

The
Signature
Supplement™
test results will show if your client has a tendency
for imbalance in any of the following metabolic systems:
|
IMPAIRED GLUCOSE CONTROL |
MALABSOPTION |
|
IMPAIRED METAL METABOLISM |
HIGH HISTAMINES |
|
LOW HISTAMINES |
|
A synopsis of each of these metabolic
conditions and their expression follows:
1. IMPAIRED GLUCOSE CONTROL can result in a condition of low blood
sugar or low blood glucose. Generally to rectify this imbalance
requires intelligent food choices as well as supplementation. All
carbohydrates (sugars and starches) turn into glucose in the
process of digestion. Glucose in the blood provides the energy
needed for many functions of the body and brain. Simple
carbohydrates such as certain fruits and processed foods made from
white flour, (pasta, white bread, cookies, cakes, etc.) and or
sugar can cause blood glucose imbalances by delivering too much
glucose to the blood stream at one time. A diet too high in
refined carbohydrates, caffeine or other stimulants will stimulate
the production of excess insulin. This pattern can cause wide
variations in blood glucose levels, which results in an uneven
supply of energy to the cells of the body and brain. These
biochemical swings can lead to mood swings, fainting attacks,
shakiness between meals, and sometimes, constant fatigue and
drowsiness after meals. Individuals with this issue have a genetic
tendency to be depleted in chromium, biotin and manganese. These
supplements help stabilize glucose levels. Complex carbohydrates
such as whole grains, beans, certain fruits and vegetables help
maintain a more gradual and moderate absorption of glucose in the
body without the more uneven biochemical swings.
The Individualized Nutritional Profile and the specific nutrients
contained in their unique
Signature
Supplement™
formula can be helpful in balancing these tendencies. This
imbalance needs both a supplement and a conscious healthy food
program to rebalance the system. Both the foods that they eat, as
well as the supplements they take, directly affect the balancing
of this system. An estimated 41 million Americans have
‘pre-diabetes’, or impaired glucose tolerance, in which blood
sugar levels are higher than normal and lead to high risk of
developing type 2 diabetes. A recent study at the University of
Michigan showed that in just three years, the risk of developing
type 2 diabetes was reduced by 58 per cent among those in the
lifestyle change group using nutritional support, diet and
exercise.
2. MALABSORPTION This results in an inefficient processing of
foods by the digestive system and poor absorption into the
bloodstream. Even though one’s diet may be adequate, malabsorption
may result in various nutritional deficiencies. “You are what you
absorb, not necessarily what you eat.” Holds true for this
imbalance. Client’s with this imbalance can exhibit slenderness
during childhood and teen years, adult slenderness despite a
normal food intake, stomach or intestinal discomfort and pain,
episodes of diarrhea or constipation, excessive stomach or
intestinal gas, constant feeling of hunger, and cravings.
There are three primary classes of absorption problems: (1)
stomach problems, including excessive or insufficient HCl levels,
(2) incomplete digestion in the small intestine, and (3) problems
at the brush-border of the intestine where most nutrients are
absorbed into the portal blood stream. The consequences can
include nutrient deficiencies, a compromised immune system,
irritation of the intestinal tract, candida, and mental health
problems. Incomplete breakdown of protein and fats can adversely
affect brain neurotransmission, and is associated with impulsivity
and academic underachievement. Client’s may experience ongoing
hunger as their body signals for more nutrients through consuming
greater quantities of foods.
In this particular profile, promoting harmony in the stomach and
intestines will help the client’s body use food and liquids
properly. Most likely their body does not produce enough digestive
enzymes to assist in breaking down and absorbing their food. Many
other habits can inadvertently sabotage the digestive system in
those with this imbalance. Because of this imbalance those with
this issue are more sensitive to stress, and other associated
environmental factors that can affect digestion. Their emotional
sensitivity has a direct effect on stomach acid secretion.
Drinking warm liquids before a meal is suggested, avoiding iced
liquids is recommend and no liquids should be consumed with food.
This will stop the inadvertent dilution of digestive fluids.
Additional digestive enzymes can also assist in creating a
healthier digestive environment. There are certain foods and
supplements to avoid and others that should be emphasized to
enhance the digestion, absorption and assimilation of food. These
client’s may have sub acute food allergies, which can affect the
digestive process.
We suggest that you speak with your client for further testing of
potential food allergies. Over all clients are best served by an
integrated holistic approach using both proper supplementation as
well as employing healthy lifestyle eating habits. This would
entail eating their meals in a quiet peaceful location without
stress. A few quiet moments before a meal with several deep slow
abdominal breaths can help calm their system and prepare it to
digest their meal. They need to plan ahead for their meals so that
they are not rushed either in preparing or eating them.
Individuals with this condition have a genetic tendency to
depleted in biotin, betaine, pepsin, and gastric lipase. They are
also overloaded in manganese and need to avoid ingesting more
amounts. More information is available in their individualized
Nutritional Profile.
3. IMPAIRED METAL METABOLISM Also known as oxidative stress may
result in a special need for specific mineral supplements and the
avoidance of others in your client’s supplement as well as in
their foods. Heavy metal metabolism can occur when too many heavy
metals are absorbed into their system. A specific protein (metallothionine)
usually begins to manage the heavy metals that they ingest. Many
health issues are attributed to this abundance of heavy metals and
lack of others. Your client’s reaction to this is personal and
likely to occur in organs or metabolic systems that have a
weakness or a tendency to become imbalanced. This is one of those
undiagnosed health issues that goes untreated because the
underlying associated issues are often overlooked. We recommend
going to the associated issues with a two-pronged approach.
Gradually encourage the body to reduce the heavy metals and
rebuild the protein metallothionine so that it protects the body
from further over saturation of heavy metals.
Several dozen metallic elements have an important influence on
human biochemistry and brain chemistry. The most important
nutrient metals include zinc, copper, calcium, magnesium, iron,
selenium, lithium, cobalt, manganese, and phosphorus and the
electrolytes sodium and potassium. In addition, toxic heavy metals
such as lead, cadmium and mercury can disrupt brain chemistry and
human functioning. Serious problems can result if abnormal levels
of any of the above metals are present. The body has several
mechanisms which regulate and control these metal concentrations
and cope with fluctuations in dietary intake.
Divalent metals such as copper, zinc, and manganese would be very
toxic to cells in elemental or ionic form. These metals are
"enveloped" or "bound" to a small linear protein (61 amino acids)
called metallothionine (MT), which supervises and regulates metal
levels in blood, brain and the periphery. The various metals in
the body compete with each other for participation in chemical
reactions and can displace each other depending on local
concentration and their relative position in the chemical activity
series. Thus, an overload or deficiency of one metal can alter the
concentration and functioning of other metals.
Expressions of oxidative stress range from a weakened immune
system, concentration and memory problems, sleep difficulties,
mood swings, and lack of energy to unhealthy skin, hair and nails.
High-copper individuals usually have a history of hyperactivity,
tinnitus, and skin sensitivity to metals. They may also exhibit
quick, over - reactive tempers, symptoms of ADD, ADH, and have a
hyperactive personality. Females with this condition usually have
significant PMS and are prone to heightened depression during
hormonal events such as childbirth and menopause. They often
report a worsening of depression after estrogen or off the shelf
multiple vitamins. Treatment focuses on release of excess copper
from tissues, promotion of copper excretion, and stimulation of
metallothionein (a metal-binding protein) production. Their
individualized profile and unique supplement formula can provide
your client with a balanced nutrition program to optimize their
health.
4. IMBALANCED AMINO ACID METABOLISM is associated with elevated
histamine levels and under methylation. Histamine is an important
brain neurotransmitter, which may influence personality and
behavioral traits. They are under-methylated which is associated
with low serotonin levels. Methylation is a process, which impacts
the production of serotonin, dopamine and other neurotransmitters.
Without enough serotonin it is difficult for someone to have a
happy day, it is our “feel good” neurotransmitter. This syndrome
often involves seasonal variations in depression,
obsessive-compulsive behavior, inhalant allergies, and frequent
headaches. They have a genetic tendency to be very depressed in
calcium, magnesium, methionine, and Vitamin B-6 with excessive
levels of folic acid. Individuals with this imbalance usually have
too much of several specific nutrients that they should not
consume in a supplement. This over abundance can prohibit other
bio-chemical functions from occurring. The biochemical systems in
our body are so interrelated that an abundance or lack of a needed
nutrient can cause a cascading effect on other systems and create
multiple signs of ill health.
5. IMBALANCED AMINO ACID METABOLISM is associated with lower blood
histamine levels. This results in an individual being over-methylated
which results in excessive amounts of dopamine, norepinephrine and
serotonin. Histamine is an important brain neurotransmitter, which
may influence personality and behavior traits. Extreme
low-histamine individuals are usually nervous, anxious individuals
who are prone to paranoia and despair. They are over-methylated
which results in elevated dopamine and norepinephrine levels.
Although free of seasonal allergies, they often report a multitude
of food and chemical sensitivities. Many have a history of
hyperactivity, learning disabilities, and underachievement. They
can feel anxious, paranoid and depressed. Most individuals with
this issue tend to be physically attractive and more creative than
the rest of the population. Low histamine individuals tend to
overreact to life experiences and dwell on the negative but are
compassionate caregivers and non-competitive, accepting
individuals. They have a genetic tendency to be very depressed in
folates, niacin, and Vitamin B-12, and biochemical treatment
focuses on supplementation of these nutrients. These persons are
also overloaded in copper and methionine and supplements and foods
with these nutrients must be strictly avoided. The individualized
Nutritional Profile and Signature Supplements are designed to
rebalance their biochemistry and optimize the performance of their
metabolic systems.
